How to join the Iron Realms Admin Team/Staff

You can be nominated by an existing Senior Staff member or apply without nomination. A writeup of your experience with being a moderator, developer, designer, etc or any previous experience pertinent to your desired staff position should be included in your application. Examples of work are also encouraged, if possible. Non-staff roles can be applied for without any requirements. (Exception Venerable is nomination or association only)

Requirements to apply without nomination:

1) Be an active member of the community for a minimum of 6 months.

2) Must hold and complete the duties of a non-staff role for 3 months. (Mentor, Project Member)

After application/nomination, the senior staff will vote on whether to consider you for a position. Vote must be unanimous. Any staff who votes to decline consideration to join the Admin Team will provide their reasoning.

If nominated, you will be placed in your desired ENTRY LEVEL position. You must actively execute duties of the entry level position(s) you hold for 6 months. Certain entry level positions are precursors to senior staff positions. See the Admin Staff Organizational Chart (color coded). Example: You must hold and complete the duties of a GUIDE position for 6 months prior to promoting to Developer or Game Master.

Note: Existing active staff will be grandfathered into positions.

Apply to join the admin team below!

Rules/Duties of all Admin Staff regardless of the position(s) held

- Conduct yourself in a professional manner. People can be annoying sometimes and get under your skin, that’s okay – we’re all human. Gather your bearings and respond professionally. As part of the Admin Team, you are an Iron Realms Ambassador…you are the brand in and out of game/discord/chats/twitch etc.

- Oversee chat/logs and intervene if necessary/able whether it’s to mitigate issues or to provide guidance.

- Oversee ticket system. Example: If a player puts in a ticket but it’s out of your expertise, ping the appropriate staff role(s) so they are notified. Its better as a member to receive a response immediately versus waiting for hours for a response from the specific staff who can address the issue(s). A simple “Received – I have pinged the @Game Master s for additional assistance. They should be with you shortly.” or similar makes a huge difference.

- Stay active in the community whether it be through chat, gameplay, etc. Inactive staff will be removed.

- Keep notifications turned on for @mentions and for channels pertinent to their duties (e.g. Guide should have whitelist-queue notifications on). There is no expectation for you to be tethered to your phone/PC but it shouldn’t take 10 days (or more) for you to respond to a ping. We are all adults, so if you’ll be away/unavailable for some time just the team know so we aren’t trying to rely on you if you’re out. No reason needed, just a heads up.

- Cheating or abusing powers is never allowed or tolerated - some examples follow (not all inclusive). Do not provide an advantage to other players in games/servers. Do not maliciously use your powers for any reason, even if you cannot stand someone. Do not go on ‘power trips’. Do not assign roles in discord without those members completing the necessary steps. Do not provide any privileged information to people/platforms outside of the appropriate Admin Team members. If you are playing a ‘mortal’ (non-admin) character on a game server, it should not have any advantage over any other player. (Use separate profiles/accounts for admin/non-admin characters) Players who beg/entice you to abuse powers should be given a warning.

- Spamming or advertising outside of appropriate manners/platforms is prohibited. Promotion of our server(s), community, etc is acceptable, and encouraged, so long as it doesn’t break the platform’s rules. Example: Valheim Official Discord has a strict 24 hour time requirement between server promotion posts.

- If a member helps you out by pointing out exploits or by assisting you in testing a feature, be sure to reward them appropriately.

- Warnings, kicking, banning parameters. There is not an all-inclusive list to the numerous things that people do as it pertains to breaking rules, but use common sense when issuing warnings, kicking or banning players/users. Iron Dad has a low tolerance for stupidity, malicious intent, etc. If someone is being an ass intentionally – skip the warnings and kick or ban at your discretion. On that note, just be familiar with the rules of whichever platform the situation is occurring in as they may differ from others rulesets.

- You are not responsible for any monetary or donation issues, concerns, or questions. Please defer those to Iron Dad if you wish.
